Before going online, make sure you have your prescription with you. You will need this to enter the details when ordering your glasses. The prescription needs to be less the 2 years old. If the prescription is great then 2 years old, advancespex.com suggest that you take a new eye test to check your prescription. If you are 70 or over then the prescription should be less the 12 months old.
If the optician refuses to give you the prescription, then please remind them that you have a right to it by law. Some opticians do not like the fact that you want to buy your glasses from elsewhere. If this is the case, remind them of the law. Better still, tell them you want to buy your glasses from advancespex.com. If you are not that brave then tell them that you need to supply the details at work, or that my doctor wants to keep a copy. Don't forget, you paid for the eye test, therefore you own the prescription. |

High street opticians are not legally bound to give you the Pupilliary Distance (PD) measurement, as this is not a part of the eye test. But don't be frightened to ask. It might cost you a small fee, but you still make a greater saving buying online even after paying for the PD. Alternatively if you can get someone's help. It is relatively easy to take your own reading as demonstrated in the diagram below.
