Frames come in a variety of colours and sizes. Make sure you choose a colour that you are comfortable with. If you have an old pair of glasses then you can check the size of the frame you might require. Take a look at the inside of the arm of your old frame. You may see something like this.

51 [ ] 18 135.
The first number 51. This is the diameter of the lens.
The second number 18. This is the width of the nose bridge,
The third number 135. This is the length of the arm.
All sizes are measured in millimetres (mm)

The Arm Length usually comes in 3 standard sizes 135mm, 140mm and 145mm.
The Lens Diameter is measured from the bridge of the nose to the tip of the lens
The Bridge is the area that sits on your nose
You can compare the frame width with your old glasses. Although this measurement can be adjusted slightly, it is a good comparator of how the frame will sit over your face,
With so many different styles of frames nowadays the Lens Height becomes an important measure, especially if you wear bifocals or varifocals. For a multi focal lens a minimum lens depth of 28mm is required.
If you already have a pair of glasses that you are happy with, the process is very simple. You can choose a pair of a similar style or totally different if you wish. The measurement does not have to be exactly the same. So don’t be too precise. A few millimetres either way will not make much difference. The numbers inside your old glasses, as seen above, will give you some guidance.
